MILITARY & FEDERAL SALES MANAGER
Description:
The Military and Federal Sales Manager is responsible for sales, vendor interface, development, and a liaison to end users within the federal government.
Reports to:
- Director of Global Sales, Denise Ehlert
- Full-time, exempt position that will require the employee to work flexible hours to meet the company’s needs. Evening and weekend travel may be necessary, with expectation of adapting to varying time zones as required.
- Close coordination with selected SAM Medical distributors to ensure SAM Medical products are promoted and appropriate opportunities presented to these distributors.
- Track and capitalize on appropriate bid boards and federal solicitation sites for opportunities to provide SAM Medical products to end users through our distribution network.
- Maintain and/or develop relationships with key influencers and decision makers in federal and Dept of Defense spaces.
- Pursue every opportunity to ensure SAM Medical products are integrated into federal and Dept. of Defense Programs of Record, contracts and procurement vehicles.
- Serve as primary liaison to SAM Medical executive team regarding pricing expectations, federal procurement guidelines, and strategic development.
- Attend appropriate conferences and meetings to represent SAM Medical, ensuring SAM Medical products are being highlighted in the appropriate spaces.
- Communicate efficiently both internally within SAM Medical and externally with distributors and end users.
- Traceable military and federal sales results.
- Distributor satisfaction and feedback.
- Increase in procurement vehicle representation of SAM Medical products.
- Ability to accurately and efficiently communicate status and requirements.

- Valid Driver’s License.
- Bonus, but not required – Dept of Defense base access privileges.
- Ability to stand for up to 50 minutes at a time in a booth.
- Ability to carry up to 35 lbs. for no further than 100 ft at a time.
- Ability to drive a vehicle at night.
- Ability and willingness to be a passenger in a commercial aircraft.
- Minimum 5-10 years military, optimally in procurement or logistics AND minimum 5-10 years in sales within the MILTAC industry; optimally, as a distributor or kitting representative with government contracts. The ideal candidate would include military experience at any time at US Special Operations Command. Military experience not required if there is extensive sales and/or program management experience with the federal government.
- Solid understanding and capabilities with Microsoft applications and operating systems. Ability to operate and function effectively in a remote setting via teleconference and other such electronic tools.
- Critical skillset and competency for this position is an in-depth understanding of the federal procurement system from top to bottom that will not only enable successful sales, but also the ability to properly advise the executive team in future strategic planning.
Other Requirements:
- This position requires solid communication skills, ability to work in a team, expertise in Dept of Defense and Federal Procurement System, with experience managing multiple projects at varying levels. Priority will be given to candidates with knowledge in federal bid boards and grant application processes.
- This position will require a self-starter who operates well with little direction and oversite while holding themselves accountable for their goals.
- Ideally, this will be a remote position operated by someone living in either the Mid-Atlantic region or Central Texas.
- This position will require regular internal collaboration with other divisions within SAM Medical such as the marketing and training departments. An understanding of how those types of departments function and an ability to communicate effectively is essential.
- In addition to development of opportunities and growth for SAM Medical within the Dept. of Defense, this position also includes opportunities with other government entities such as Federal First Responders, Dept. of Veterans Affairs, and Dept. of Homeland Security. All opportunities above the state level of government procurement should be considered.
